BLOCKING CODES:

 

The key to correcting moving cars on the OCRR is to look at the Blocking Code on the Waybill.

 

Blocking Codes POR, ALB and VAN are the SP. UP, and NP/SPS yards in the Portland area. All cars for POR, ALB, and VAN go to Hoyt Street Yard which forwards them to the Interchange Tracks at the east end of the Yard.

 

Blocking Code WHR is the staging/interchange yard at Tillamook. All cars for WHR go to Tillamook. Tillamook Yard moves them to Wheeler.

 

All other Blocking Codes are locations on the layout Cars are moved to these locations by specific trains that serve them.

 

 

 

 

LOG CARS:

 

Log Cars have unique CarCards. Car numbers are not used and Log Cars do not have waybills.

 

Loaded Log Cars go to the lumber mill in Tillamook.

At the Tillamook Log Dump, engineers remove  the loads and place them in the ”Log Pond” box directly under the layout.

 

Empty Log Cars go to the location listed in the colored band at the top of the card.

 

Except in switching operations, Log Cars move only in Log Trains.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ENGINES:

 

All engines and engine consists have an Engine Card. Engine DCC addresses are the number on the engine. Consists DCC addresses are shown on the Engine Card for the consist.

 

All engines have momentum and almost all engines have brakes  - use FUNCTION KEY 6 to toggle brakes on and off.

 

Engine cards also show how far an engine will continue moving at a given speed  if the brakes are used or if the throttle is rolled off.

 

Momentum and braking effects are modest and engine top speeds have been reduced to encourage the use of brakes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

TRAIN INSTRUCTIONS:

 

Each train has a card with instructions for that train’s work.

 

We (we being the OCRR management) think it would be a good idea to read and heed the instructions and would appreciate it greatly.
